<p>The basic concept of the “invisible fence” is that once the desired perimeter has been programmed between the receiver collar and the module unit, the collar will, initially, emit a piercing sound which alerts the pet that it’s reaching the barrier, and, in the event it touches or attempts to cross the boundary, it will shock the pet with a non-lethal amount of static electricity, thus prompting the it to stay contained. </p>
