What you can’t see may SHOCK you!

For those that are reluctant to adopt a pet due to the fact they may have to engage on the arduous responsibility of constructing and maintaining a physical fence, you can place your mind at ease. A very useful and popular alternative is the “invisible fence” also known as the “electrical” or “wireless” fence.

The basic concept of the “invisible fence” is that once the desired perimeter has been programmed between the receiver collar and the module unit, the collar will, initially, emit a piercing sound which alerts the pet that it’s reaching the barrier, and, in the event it touches or attempts to cross the boundary, it will shock the pet with a non-lethal amount of static electricity, thus prompting the it to stay contained.

The installation is fairly easy, can cover as far as ½ acre of land, and its cost typically ranges between $130 to $600. For more information please explore the following vendors at PetSafe and K-9 Electric Dog Fence.

Invisible Dog Fences have evolved over the past 25 years. The expensive and somewhat ugly chain link dog fences have fallen by the wayside in favor of the new electronic dog fences, which use invisible radio waves. Dogs have a habit of jumping over or digging under chain link dog fences or other solid barrier dog fences. An Invisible Fence is a good idea if you want to keep your dog safe.
